Going on vacation, not everyone can leave their pet at home. To take him with you to travel, you need to know how to properly transport your four-legged friends.

Complete information on dog flight rules

To take a little dog with you, you need to familiarize yourself with some rules for transporting animals. Before boarding an aircraft, you should notify the selected airline of your desire. This can be done electronically (by sending an email) or call back. There are companies that can provide a small number of places.

Accompanying documents must be with your pets - this is a veterinary certificate of timely vaccination and a certificate. They will be required by specialized services that monitor compliance with sanitary standards and quarantine rules in the country in which the little dog is imported.

The animal in the container is not hand luggage, so you also need to take an appropriate ticket for it.

Documents required for transporting dogs by air

Four-legged pets must be transported together with a veterinary document stating that the dog has been vaccinated and has been quarantined for 30 days under the supervision of a veterinarian doctor (form No. 1). The shelf life of such a document is 36 hours (3 days).

Such a certificate has the right to be issued exclusively by a state institution; no private veterinary clinics have these powers.

Veterinary certificate No. 1 is issued only on the basis of a dog’s passport and full information about her vaccinations.

An additional prerequisite for transporting dogs by plane is information about the rabies vaccine made. The limitation period should not exceed 12 months.

Some countries have individual orders, and someone requires a certificate of vaccination no more than two weeks ago, 1 month ago.

Also in the passport should be marked that the animal has no parasites (fleas, worms, ticks).

If animals are transported to European countries, some may require a “flight license”. If a four-legged pet has a pedigree, it is necessary to present it along with the foreign passport of the owner himself, to clarify the flight and the date of departure. When there is no pedigree, then it is necessary to contact special dog breeders' societies for evaluating pets, otherwise they are considered to be purebred.

How dogs are transported in aircraft cabins

As a rule, dwarf and small breed dogs are transported in the cabin. The weight of the baby should not be more than five kg. The pet must be in a special cage - carrying. The cage should have free air circulation and access to water (drink the little dog).

The container can not be installed on the seat, it will be either under it, or in the hands of the owner. If the neighbors do not mind, you can take the dog in your arms, this is not prohibited.

In this way dogs are transported only in economy classes, in the first and business classes it is prohibited. You can carry no more than one carry.

Carriage of the dog as checked baggage (in the luggage compartment)

For these purposes, special cells are used - container:

1. The cell must have free air circulation from all sides;

2. The sizes are necessary so that the dog lay freely, stood and turned in the direction he needed;

3. The container should be equipped so that it is possible to feed the animal without difficulty, to drink and to clean the cage if necessary;

4. The cage needs to be strong so that the little dog can’t escape, clean, protected from leakage (if the pet wants to cope with natural needs).

Before the flight, veterinarians do not recommend feeding the animal any food and it is better to give him a sedative. Otherwise, against the background of stress, the dog often lowers blood pressure, which will lead to malfunctioning of some internal organs (heart, lungs).

Transportation of animals by flights to certain countries

Before you start dealing with documents, you need to familiarize yourself with the basic rules for importing animals into a particular state.

In countries such as the UK, Cyprus and Malta, Ireland and New Zealand - animals are allowed to be transported strictly in the luggage compartment of the aircraft.

Some countries generally allow pets to be imported after six months of quarantine.

How to properly transport service dogs

Service dogs are those animals that accompany people with physical disabilities (blind, deaf, paralyzed below the waist), pets that emotionally support the person.

These animals accompany their owner, they do not pay any money, there are no restrictions on weight and size. There are only two rules for them:

1. On hands should be documents that confirm that the dog is specially trained and accompanies its owner;

2. Mandatory collar, leash and muzzle.

If a person has a psychological need and the animal supports him emotionally, there must be an appropriate certificate from the doctor.

Dog Carriage Rules

A dog, regardless of what size it can be transported exclusively in a compartment carriage of a train. Moreover, all neighboring shelves must be redeemed and paid as additional baggage weighing 20 kg.

In one compartment, it is allowed to carry no more than 2 small dogs or 1 large. Small dog breeds should only be transported in special cages. Large ones that are higher than 45 cm at the withers are necessarily in a muzzle and on a leash.

Not all trains are designed to transport dogs, so this should be clarified before the trip.

Mandatory presence of a veterinary document (form No. 1).

Rules for transporting dogs by road

If the dog is transported by bus, payment for the animal is set by the carrier. A small dog must be kept in the carrier, large breed dogs in the muzzle and on the leash. All relevant veterinary documents are required.
