Succulents are one of the most common and very unpretentious indoor plants. They have a unique ability for a long time to accumulate moisture in their fleshy leaves and trunks, necessary for their life. This ability is directly related to their origin: in nature, they grow in the arid parts of America and in Africa. This is what makes succulents such unpretentious plants.

The list of the most popular indoor succulents can be listed forever: Echeveria, stonecrops, Krassula, Aloe, Kalanchoe, godchildren, Haworthia, Gasteria, various cacti, etc.

Succulent Care:

The soil. The substrate for growing succulents must be well-drained, that is, light, breathable and not retaining water in itself. For its compilation, it is important to know the origin of the purchased succulent, but in most cases the composition is the same. 50% of the sheet soil must be mixed with 40% of sand and 10% of cultivators (perlite, expanded clay, small bark).

Pot selection. In terms of pots, succulents are not particularly demanding. You can plant them in both deep and interior small pots. The main condition is that the pot is not too large.

Lighting. Succulents prefer the southern, sunniest side, but you can put them on the eastern windows, where they will feel quite normal. If a plant is bought recently and immediately exposed to a sunny window, it can get a severe burn, and eventually lose its high decorative effect. Immediately after the purchase, the plant must be shaded and gradually accustomed to sunlight.

Temperature. Succulent plants tolerate high temperatures well due to its origin. In summer, the favorable temperature for them varies between 28-37 degrees, in winter - at least 15.

Watering. Succulents should be watered moderately, not more than 1 time in 10 days. That is why succulents are often chosen as a "pet" for children. Even if the child forgets to water it, the plant will begin to use the reserves of water from the leaves and the stem.

Reproduction. Most succulents are propagated by seeds, the branch of children and cuttings.

1. The process of propagation of succulents using seeds is effective, but too long and requires special attention. To do this, sow the seeds in a sandy substrate, lightly sprinkle with soil and sprinkle from the spray gun. Then the crops should be covered with glass, a transparent cover or a transparent film. Shoots appear quickly, but at the same time they grow very slowly. An adult full-fledged plant can be obtained only after 2-3 years after the first germination.

2. Children reproduce succulents much easier. It is necessary to separate the children and plant them in separate pots.

3. Propagation by cuttings. From an adult plant, you need to pinch off the stalk, dry it for about 5 days, and plant it in a substrate, moistening as necessary. Roots appear most often after 2-3 weeks.
