State Duma deputies decided to take the initiative: to amend the law on consumer rights, in order to warn women about the dangers of tattoos. Lawmakers are convinced that even small-sized tattoos applied in the lumbar region can lead to paralysis.
First of all, these amendments will affect the salons that provide tattoo services. They are obliged to warn their clients of the potential health risks of this procedure.
For some reason, the deputies are convinced that women with tattoos in the lumbar region may have problems at birth when they are given epidural anesthesia through the spine.
The explanatory note to the bill states that if the paint from the tattoo gets into the spinal cord, then the woman in labor may well be in danger of paralysis.
Curiously, but physicians categorically reject this theory. Not a single case of ingress of paint into the body during childbirth was recorded.
