The State Duma is considering a bill that will prohibit Russians from giving their children unusual and eccentric names.
In particular, deputies propose banning the registration of children whose alleged names include numbers, obscene and offensive words for the baby.
As a result, “progressive” parents will lose the opportunity to call their children Princes, Counts, the Moon, Jazz, Sevastopol, etc.
This decision is aimed at protecting the rights and interests of children who in the future can suffer from bullying and ridicule of their peers only because their parents "perceive the world inadequately."
Similar laws exist in many countries. In particular, a ban on fanciful names was introduced in New Zealand, where parents tried to call their children Justice, Christ, Lucifer, Bus Stop No. 16, etc.
