Spanish princess Cristina received a subpoena from the court of the city of Palma de Mallorca, where she is due to appear on April 27 as a witness in the scandalous case of her husband, Inaki Urdangarin, reports Reuters.

It is not yet known whether the royal woman will be charged. But the Duke de Palma (such a title is the spouse of the princess) is accused of corruption and embezzlement of public funds. As the head of the Noos charity, he laundered money that was intended for sports events. In addition, and the police are sure of this, Ignaki Urdangarin participated in a number of other major financial frauds.

According to authorities, almost 6.4 million dollars were withdrawn from the fund and subsequently safely spent. The duke faces imprisonment for four years. In any case, such a punishment is required for him by the prosecutor. But if the accused compensates the fund for financial damage, admitting his guilt, the period may be shortened.

The princess herself does not say anything about her relationship with her spouse, whose marriage has lasted since 1997. Rumor has it that after the corruption scandal that erupted last year, Christina talks to the Duke quite rarely. In general, at present, the princess and her husband lead a lifestyle that is closed to the media and the public.

When the Spanish authorities lodged claims with Iñaki Urdangarin, he left for the United States with his relatives.

The royal court does not comment on the fact of calling the princess to court.
