The singer Yury Loza, who was wildly popular in the 80s, put it rather harshly about the Russian variety art.

On his Facebook page, Loza shared his thoughts on the situation around New Wave. In particular, Yuriy believes that Russian performers should boycott this competition. Loza is convinced that if the Latvians do not like that a number of singers share the political views of the president of his country, then it’s definitely necessary to react to this - go home, to those performers who have already arrived in Latvia and pass the tickets to those who are just going.

However, as you know, no one followed such calls. On the contrary, the festival took place more than aroused: there were a lot of parties, the whole color of the Russian showbiz was present at parties.

Loza added that he hardly imagines himself as “artists”, having fun in Jurmala, on arrival home will tell the restricted way to Kobzon, Gazmanova and singer Valeria about how cool it was there. Yuri is convinced that participation in the festival is a stain on the entire Russian show business, which may well create the impression among Russians that our variety art is bullshit, having neither honor nor Fatherland.
